Design appreciation

http://www.slipperybrick.com/tag/computers/

I like this product design as it has a unique shape and is eye catching as compared to other computers.

These shoes are nice as they have air cushions and look sporty.

Bad designs:

Although it looks cool as it is clear, it is very unpractical as you can see the person's foot inside.

Sketching with rubrix

This is my new water bottle after looking at the rubrix, it has a pump handle

This is the vase I made to hold flowers.

Through the rubrix, I was able to make the objects according to the criteria. The rubrix gave me a goal to work for in sketching, so that I would not be disorientated. I drew the objects according to the rubrix.

Shape-borrowing

Shape bowing is using a shape on top of an object to create a new object with a totally different shape. This can produce creative designs that are different from normal and can be sold to the public well as they are seen as unique and good for display. Shape borrowing may not work for highly complicated designs

SCAMPER is a way to modify the looks of a product to create a new product with different functions that can improve the product in terms of functionality, it is an easy way to brainstorm for a new product. It may not provide feasible results sometimes. It stands for: Substitute, Combine, Modify, Eliminate and Reverse. You do not have to use all of the elements when using SCAMPER.

I will use artem's blog as it has a good summary
